About the Role
Maintenance Engineers work as part of a multi‑disciplined team carrying out first‑line maintenance tasks and improvements on equipment throughout the factory efficiently and effectively.
The role is shift‑based, involving a combination of 12‑hour days and nights on a set rota. You will report to the Shift Engineering Manager and work closely with other departments to support smooth maintenance and shutdown activities.
Responsibilities
- Approve completed tasks and enter accurate detail into the maintenance system to keep equipment histories up to date.
- Consider all implications when carrying out tasks to minimise waste of time and materials.
- Add a “Fix it right, now” work ethic; use root‑cause analysis to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions.
- Observe plant conditions, report deficiencies that cannot be rectified, and implement ideas to improve manufacturing, efficiency and equipment reliability.
- Work safely, adhere to company policies and procedures, and maintain duty of care to yourself and others.
- Provide and implement improvement ideas, support lean manufacturing initiatives, and coordinate change activities.
- Work with the line manager to ensure smooth execution of daily maintenance tasks and shutdown work, and feed back requirements as needed.
- Identify areas that contribute to improved product quality or plant efficiency through knowledge and analysis.
Qualifications
- BTEC / NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent (essential).
- Time‑served apprenticeship in Engineering or similar industry (essential).
- City & Guilds 2391 or similar qualification.
- Multi‑skilled qualification in additional disciplines (NVQ L2 / City & Guilds).
- Broad knowledge of modern maintenance techniques.
- Strong practical engineering fundamentals and hands‑on experience.
