Senior Quantity Surveyor

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our client’s aviation portfolio, delivering reactive maintenance, planned works and infrastructure upgrades. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will support the Commercial Manager in delivering commercial excellence across a portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, taking ownership of the commercial and financial performance of projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards. Working closely with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders, you will play a key role throughout the entire project lifecycle while mentoring and developing junior members of the commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Commercial Manager in delivering effective and consistent commercial services.
  • Manage the commercial and financial performance of projects from inception through to completion.
  • Oversee cost management, procurement, contract administration and financial reporting.
  • Prepare cost reconciliations, valuations, forecasts and progress reports.
  • Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks, including cost overruns and programme delays.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Mentor and develop junior Quantity Surveyors, including those working towards professional qualifications such as APC.
  • Promote commercial awareness and ensure compliance with company governance, procedures and contractual obligations.
  • Support pre‑contract activities, resource planning and work‑winning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Contract Services to resolve disputes and with the Insurance team on claims and recoveries.
  • Participate in project reviews, executive meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual and audit requirements.

About You

You will be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong commercial background and a passion for delivering complex infrastructure projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working on civil engineering or other safety‑critical infrastructure projects, such as aviation, rail or highways.
  • Strong commercial, contractual and financial management skills.
  • Proven experience in cost estimation, forecasting, procurement and contract administration.
  • Ability to resolve commercial disputes and negotiate successful outcomes.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Demonstrable experience providing commercial advice across large and complex projects.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring commercial teams and delivering successful project outcomes.

Desirable

  • MRICS or CICES professional accreditation.
