Job Title: Residential Care Officer.

Directorate: Social Services Health & Housing. Section: Complex Disability / Trem Y Mor Respite. Hours: 30. Location: Trem Y Mor, Scarlett Avenue, Port Talbot, SA12 7PH.

We are currently looking for a compassionate and motivated Residential Care Officer to join our team at Trem Y Mor Respite Service. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing hands‑on care and key working with a number of individuals with complex support needs, completing person‑centred care plans and risk assessments, and ensuring all documentation is in line with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) requirements.

Main Duties

  • Liaising with families and health professionals
  • Attending multi‑disciplinary (MDT) meetings
  • Creating care plans and risk assessments
  • Reviewing documentation, including quarterly reviews, to ensure care plans remain accurate and effective
  • Providing high‑quality care and support to individuals requiring a safe, stimulating environment with appropriate supervision
  • Delivering care that meets physical and emotional needs of the people we support

Our service operates seven days a week, offering a programme of activities and therapies in conjunction with health professionals where appropriate. These are tailored to each individual’s level of need and designed to:

  • Maintain and improve health and wellbeing
  • Promote independence and personal development
  • Provide valuable respite for families

Essential / Desirable Criteria

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to achieve within two years of commencement)
  • Ability to use IT systems to maintain accurate records (essential)
  • Registration with Social Care Wales (or willingness to apply immediately upon starting)
  • Experience working with individuals with complex needs (desirable)
  • A caring, flexible and person‑centred approach
