Job Overview

The Assurance Directorate has an opportunity for a Corporate Governance Manager (Band 7) to support the Trust Board and Executive Team on key governance arrangements within an experienced and supportive team.

The post-holder will work within the Corporate Governance Team to ensure the efficient and effective operation of governance in a large and complex organisation. The role demands a creative and logical thinker with proactive and analytical skills, excellent communication, administrative, organisational and IT skills, and the ability to prioritise, demonstrate initiative and work proactively with professionalism.

Main duties

  • Maintain and improve the governance of the Trust through effective committee servicing, business management and knowledge dissemination.
  • Coordinate and support Board and senior committee meetings, ensuring timely preparation of meeting materials, agendas and minutes.
  • Apply and promote best practice in corporate governance, safeguarding, and corporate responsibility.
  • Provide analytical insight on governance issues, produce reports and communicate findings to senior leadership.
  • Ensure attention to detail in all governance documentation and compliance requirements.

Person specification

Education/Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent

Experience

  • Track record of dealing with Corporate Governance and principles of business conduct in a large organisation.
  • Experience of analysing problems and identifying solutions.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Understanding and ability to work with the complexities of NHS organisations at Board and strategic level.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance and best practice.
  • Strong communication, administrative and organisational skills.
  • Effective use of IT tools and systems.

Additional Information

Previous corporate governance experience in a public sector organisation and a good knowledge of corporate governance best practice are highly desirable.
