Children’s Residential Deputy Manager – Nelson
Salary: £40,777 – £46,142 per annum. Permanent, full‑time, 37 hours per week (pro‑rata). This role is not open to international sponsorship.
About the role
Deputy Managers lead and supervise teams of Senior Residential Childcare Workers and Residential Childcare Workers. The role balances operational duties with direct care responsibilities, works closely with the Home Manager, and collaborates with the wider Children’s Residential Services management team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, supervision and guidance to care teams during core hours (Monday to Friday, 7am–7pm).
- Ensure efficient day‑to‑day running of the home in partnership with the Home Manager.
- Oversee individual care plans and monitor health and educational outcomes.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external professionals and attend reviews and multi‑agency meetings.
- Contribute to wider service projects, initiatives and staff development.
- Lead on key development areas within the broader management team and support workforce training and growth.
- Champion the organisation’s vision of safe, healthy, and supportive homes for children.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- A passion for working with children and a commitment to their well‑being.
- A QCF 4 or NVQ 3/4 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care, or equivalent.
- Minimum three years’ experience within Residential Children and Young People’s Services, or equivalent.
- Valid driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential car user post).
