Job Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and knowledgeable Project Manager to join the growing Transformation/PMO team at Gentoo. The Project Manager will support the ongoing delivery of a range of business improvement and transformation projects, as the business embarks on a significant period of change. Working as part of a small team led by the Head of PMO and consisting of Project Managers, Business Analysts and Test Specialists to deliver transformation and IT projects across the business to improve our ways of working and the customer experience.

Based at Gentoo’s Doxford Park, Sunderland head office, you will work a standard 36-hour week, Monday to Friday, with an early 12:30 pm finish every Friday, and a flexible hybrid working model that balances office and home-based work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of a portfolio of both IT and Business projects using the appropriate methodology (Agile/Waterfall/Hybrid).
  • Focus on change and transformation.
  • Efficient project mobilisation in line with the Group’s project management framework including project scoping, risk management, resource planning and financial assessment.
  • Ongoing project delivery: project planning, risk mitigation, cross‑functional collaboration, interdependency management, resource and capacity planning, KPI tracking, documentation, and project close‑down with lessons learned.
  • Alignment of individual objectives with the larger strategic vision and PMO priorities.
  • Application of change management techniques such as impact assessment, stakeholder management and communications planning.
  • Definition and assignment of duties, scope of authority and coordination of project personnel to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Stakeholder management across the business to ensure timely communication of information and risks.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) with a recognised project or change management qualification at practitioner level, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing complex business and IT projects with multiple work streams.
  • Experience managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within cost and quality targets.
  • Experience delivering successful change management as part of project delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and manage interdependencies between projects.
  • Strong team‑working skills and the ability to facilitate collaboration across cross‑functional teams without direct reporting lines.
  • Strong stakeholder influence and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead, multitask and manage several projects concurrently in a changing environment.
  • Capability to challenge, negotiate and conduct difficult conversations constructively.
  • Knowledge of project management approaches, stakeholder, risk, governance, communication and change impact assessment.
  • Knowledge of people change management methodologies and their practical application.
