Consultant posts in Geriatric Medicine – Orthogeriatric, Silver Trauma, Bone Health
We are pleased to invite applications for Consultant posts in Geriatric Medicine with interests in Orthogeriatric Medicine, Silver Trauma and Bone Health. These posts will support services within the fracture neck of femur units at Wythenshawe Hospital and North Manchester Hospital, and Bone Health services at WTWA.
Successful candidates will join the Ageing and Complex Health Directorate within the Medicine Division, working across Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General Hospital. MFT’s neck of femur service is nationally recognised for excellent outcomes and consistently low mortality rates. The successful candidate will work within a well‑established multidisciplinary team across both sites.
These posts offer significant opportunities for service development within the North Manchester neck of femur unit, Silver Trauma services at WTWA, and Bone Health services. Successful candidates will be supported to complete the King’s Fund New Consultant Leadership Programme and will benefit from mentorship within both the Ageing and Complex Health Directorate and the Trauma and Orthopaedic Division. There are also opportunities to develop interests in education, leadership, governance and digital innovation.
Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration, as MFT cannot provide GMC sponsorship for permanent appointments.
Complex Health is one of the directorates within the Division of Medicine, alongside Medical Specialties. The directorate encompasses Geriatric Medicine, Stroke Medicine and Palliative Medicine.
The role will work across all four hospitals within the WTWA site, with opportunities to work at each location. The particular position will include cross‑site working at North Manchester Hospital as part of the neck of femur service.
Wythenshawe Hospital is a large teaching hospital with specific separate takes in Respiratory, Cardiology and a GI bleed rota. Trafford Hospital is a district general hospital that serves its local population with a focus on orthopaedics, rehabilitation and frailty.
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to the general medical on‑call rota at WTWA.
