About the Role

We’re building something exciting in Lisbon.

As part of our European technology transformation, we’re establishing a brand-new engineering hub in Portugal — and we’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager to help shape it from the ground up.

This is a high-impact leadership role where you’ll build teams, scale delivery, and shape engineering culture, while working closely with product, architecture, and delivery leaders across Europe.

What You’ll Be Doing

Lead & Grow Teams

  • Lead, coach, and develop Tech Leads and engineering teams across multiple products
  • Create an environment where engineers can grow, perform, and feel valued
  • Drive performance, career development, and a strong inclusive culture

Build the Lisbon Hub

  • Play a key role in scaling a brand-new engineering hub
  • Hire top talent in the Portuguese market
  • Help shape the long-term team structure and workforce strategy

Own Delivery

  • Ensure teams deliver high-quality software on time and within scope
  • Manage capacity, risks, and delivery planning
  • Partner closely with Product, QA, Architecture, and Service teams
  • Champion modern engineering practices and DevOps culture
  • Promote quality through automation, observability, and continuous improvement
  • Use metrics (e.g. DORA) to improve team performance
  • Support the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and practices

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience as an Engineering Manager leading multiple teams
  • A strong background in software engineering (you can speak the language)
  • A track record of building and scaling teams (ideally in new locations)
  • Ability to balance people leadership and delivery ownership
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across technical and business teams
  • Knowledge of the Portuguese tech market
  • Fluent in Portuguese and English

Our Technology

You don’t need to be hands‑on, but you should be comfortable working in a modern stack:

  • Frontend: React, Next.js
  • DevOps: CI/CD, observability tooling

Why Join Us

  • Be part of a major European transformation programme
  • Help build a new engineering hub from the ground up
  • Work in a modern, cloud-native technology environment
  • Collaborate with high‑performing international teams
  • Shape the future of engineering at scale

The Opportunity

This isn’t just another management role.

It’s a chance to leave a lasting mark — on a growing Lisbon tech hub, on teams you build, and on products used across Europe.
