Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the country in which the role is being hired. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
Mark43’s mission is to empower communities and their governments with new technologies that improve the safety and quality of life for all. We build powerful, scalable, and elegant software that sets a new standard for the tools upon which our first responders rely. Our users are diverse, and we are therefore committed to embracing diversity of thought and experience within our team.
What You’ll Do
- Drive our vulnerability management program end to end: run scans across systems, networks, and applications, prioritize what actually matters by risk, and track remediation through to closure.
- Research emerging threats relevant to our environment, turning threat intelligence into clear, practical guidance on what to patch, watch, or harden next.
- Lead the response to a security alert: triage it, contain the issue, coordinate with the wider Cybersecurity team across time zones, and write up the post‑incident review to strengthen future responses.
- Keep the Manchester office running day to day as the sole on‑site IT support: handle hardware and software issues, manage accounts and access, set up new starters, and be the friendly face people visit when something breaks.
- Take a turn on the on‑call rota, ready to respond when a critical issue or security incident occurs outside office hours.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a cybersecurity professional, with a strong focus on vulnerability and threat research and management.
- Experience working independently as a security decision‑maker in a non‑US based environment, with the judgement to prioritize and decide on escalation.
- Solid all‑round IT support skills across Windows environments, networking, and common business tools.
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection, and SIEM tooling.
- Awareness of UK data protection requirements and frameworks such as Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001 is a welcome bonus.
- Comfortable joining an on‑call rota and collaborating across time zones.
Security Clearance
Given the sensitive nature of the work we do and the law enforcement agencies we serve, the successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain NPPV3 (Non-Police Personnel Vetting Level 3) and SC (Security Check) clearance. The offer of employment is conditional on successfully obtaining the required clearances. Eligibility requires a minimum of 5 years recent UK residency.
People Who Thrive
- Humble, open, and curious.
- Calm and decisive under pressure.
- Self‑directed and dependable.
- A clear and approachable communicator.
Location & On‑Site Requirements
The team is based in our Manchester, UK office, and this role is on‑site 3 days per week, given the day‑to‑day IT support and the value of having security present in the building. Mark43 is a remote‑friendly company with colleagues across the US and beyond, so you will collaborate closely with the wider Cybersecurity team across time zones and should be comfortable joining an on‑call rota for critical issues outside office hours.
Salary & Benefits
We are offering a salary of £50,000 – £70,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition to your base salary, you will be eligible for Mark43’s benefits package, including private medical insurance, pension contributions, and equity participation.
