Overview

South Tyneside Council’s Housing Services are looking for an exceptional Surveying Manager to lead our professional building surveying services and ensure our residents live in safe, compliant and well-maintained homes.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of surveyors delivering responsive repairs, damp, mould and condensation interventions, stock condition surveys, structural inspections, Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) assessments, investment programmes and property‑related compliance activities.
• Drive improvements in housing quality, regulatory compliance, tenant satisfaction and asset performance while preparing for the Social Housing Regulation Act and evolving consumer standards.
• Diagnose property defects, manage complex repairs and ensure housing conditions meet required standards across the housing portfolio.
• Oversee delivery of professional surveying services, ensuring effective management of property condition, disrepair risks, structural issues and housing health hazards.
