The Curriculum Team is part of Cardiff Council’s Education Directorate and works in partnership with schools, cultural organisations, universities, businesses and community partners to enrich learning and improve outcomes for children and young people across the city.
Our work spans Curriculum for Wales, creative learning, STEM, health and wellbeing, sustainability, Welsh language, international education and the Passport to the City programme. Passport to the City is Cardiff’s flagship enrichment programme, connecting children and young people with hundreds of opportunities across the city. Through strong partnerships, innovative digital solutions and a commitment to equity, we work to remove barriers and ensure that all young people, particularly those who face additional challenges, can access high-quality experiences beyond the classroom.
About the job
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in one of Cardiff Council’s most innovative education and enrichment programmes.
As Schools Liaison Officer, you will lead on communications, partnership engagement and the development of opportunities for Children Looked After (CLA) and other vulnerable young people. You will work closely with schools, council services and a wide range of partners to ensure high-quality enrichment opportunities are promoted, accessible and impactful.
The role also includes supporting the continued rollout of the Passport to the City App, developing communications and marketing campaigns, negotiating opportunities with partners and using data and evaluation to help shape the future development of the programme.
No two days are the same. One day you could be meeting with cultural organisations to develop new opportunities, the next supporting the launch of a city-wide campaign, coordinating opportunities for vulnerable young people or representing Passport to the City at partnership events.
The post is based at County Hall, Cardiff, with opportunities for flexible working in line with Council policy.
What We Are Looking For From You
We’re looking for someone who is passionate about improving opportunities for children and young people and who enjoys building relationships with a wide range of people and organisations.
You’ll be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple priorities whilst maintaining a high standard of work. You’ll be confident developing partnerships, coordinating projects and using creative approaches to engage different audiences.
Experience of communications, marketing, partnership working or project delivery will be valuable, as will an understanding of the barriers faced by disadvantaged and vulnerable young people.
Above all, we’re looking for someone who is proactive, enthusiastic and committed to making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people across Cardiff.
The successful candidate will be expected to travel across Cardiff to visit schools, partner organisations and events, with occasional evening and weekend working required to support programme activities.
