LOCATION: London (London Broadcasting House) – Hybrid (1 day per week in the office)

PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £43,500– £54,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Note: The team works a mostly flexible schedule – core hours are 10am – 4pm. We have one mandatory office day a week, which is currently Tuesdays but which may vary.

Interview Process

The selection process will consist of two stages:

  • Stage 1: 1‑hour coding assessment designed to evaluate technical proficiency.
  • Final Stage: 1‑hour comprehensive interview comprising:
    • A 15‑minute technical presentation
    • A 45‑minute blended competency‑based interview focused on values and behaviours and technical ability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with project, product and technical leads to design software that meets complex product and business needs, creating implementable specifications and tasks at feature and component level.
  • Enforce best practices in code quality, testing, and documentation using modern tools and frameworks (e.g. React).
  • Participate in the team’s software development methodologies, such as pairing, code and documentation reviewing, and continuous delivery.
  • Learn new technologies and keep informed of existing technologies.

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Good understanding of TypeScript, CSS, React and Node.js.
  • Experience with testing frameworks and utilities such as Mocha and Sinon.
  • Experience writing and maintaining robust production software in a fast‑changing environment with rapid release cycles.
  • Experience building and maintaining infrastructure on cloud platforms and effective and resilient CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in pair programming, TDD, and agile process.

Desired

  • Experience developing on AWS.
  • Experience working with GraphQL and RESTful APIs.
  • Out Of Hours/On Call engineer experience.
  • Responsibility for delivering tasks to completion.
  • Experience in a professional software development environment on several projects (including testing, design and release).
