Join a busy engineering team at one of the UK’s busiest airports.

We’re looking for an experienced Fleet Engineer to join our engineering team based at London Gatwick Airport, maintaining a diverse fleet of commercial and specialist airport vehicles operating across both airside and landside environments.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled HGV Technician, PSV Engineer, Commercial Vehicle Technician, Fleet Engineer or ex-REME Vehicle Mechanic looking for a varied role with excellent long-term career prospects.

No two days are the same. You’ll be working on a wide range of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and available to support critical airport operations.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a mixed fleet of vehicles while ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and workmanship.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out planned servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance
  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults
  • Preparing vehicles for MOT and DVSA inspections
  • Completing repairs efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
  • Responding to vehicle breakdowns across the airport when required
  • Completing job cards and maintenance records accurately
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop
  • Following all Health & Safety procedures and company policies
  • Working closely with the wider engineering team to keep the fleet operational

What We’re Looking For

We’re keen to hear from candidates with experience in:

  • HGV Technician
  • PSV Engineer
  • Commercial Vehicle Technician
  • Fleet Engineer
  • Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
  • REME Vehicle Mechanic
  • Plant or specialist vehicle maintenance

You’ll also ideally have:

  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
  • Good understanding of DVSA standards and vehicle compliance
  • Experience working on commercial vehicles, buses, coaches or specialist fleet
  • A proactive approach and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable

  • HGV or PCV Licence
  • Experience working within a fast‑paced fleet environment
