Project Security Consultant | Defence Prime
A leading defence prime is hiring a Project Security Consultant — a role at the centre of major programmes where security governance, risk management and stakeholder engagement genuinely shape outcomes. Opportunity
You’ll act as the focal point for project security, working directly with delivery teams, senior stakeholders, suppliers and customer security representatives to ensure risks are understood, managed and evidenced throughout the lifecycle. You’ll guide the Senior Responsible Owner, maintain key security artefacts, coordinate assurance activity, validate supplier compliance and embed a positive, proactive security culture across the programme. This is hands‑on, meaningful work – protecting critical national capability while collaborating with some of the UK’s most respected security, engineering and delivery teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Acting as the central point for all project security matters.
- Managing and reporting security risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Maintaining Security Management Plans, Risk Registers, and assurance evidence.
- Supporting gate reviews, audits and contractual compliance.
- Validating supplier security posture and coordinating assurance.
- Producing clear security reporting for governance boards and senior dashboards.
- Embedding security into planning, design reviews, change control and delivery.
- Working with enterprise security, engineering, procurement and SOC teams.
- Sharing best practice, delivering training and strengthening project security culture.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience in project governance, risk reporting and assurance.
- Hands‑on security risk management within project or programme environments.
- Ability to produce and maintain security documentation.
- Understanding of contractual security requirements and supplier assurance.
- Certifications such as Security+, Network+, CRISC, or equivalent experience.
