Join our dedicated team at Edinburgh Hospice as a Bereavement Services Co‑ordinator. In this role you will support people navigating grief, contributing to our wider priorities and values at Marie Curie.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate referrals, undertake initial assessments and triage, ensuring people receive the most appropriate support.
• Manage waiting lists, caseloads and service allocations to ensure timely access.
• Facilitate bereavement support groups and coordinate staff and volunteers who deliver these services.
• Recruit, train, supervise and support volunteers, making them confident, safe and valued.
• Provide compassionate bereavement support to individuals and families through face‑to‑face sessions, telephone calls, video appointments and support groups.
• Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to give families information, guidance and support following bereavement.
• Offer emotional and psychological support to bereaved individuals and identify when specialist or external referrals may be required.
• Liaise with healthcare professionals and community organisations for a joined‑up approach to bereavement care.
• Coordinate bereavement‑related events, encouraging participation from staff, volunteers and the wider community.
• Maintain accurate records, manage service administration and ensure all activities meet Marie Curie policies and professional standards.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and support the wider priorities and objectives of Marie Curie.

Qualifications

• Recognised counselling qualification (e.g., DipHE, Foundation Degree in Counselling, or equivalent).
• Professional membership of BACP, IABACP, or another recognised counselling/psychotherapy body.
• Experience supporting people affected by bereavement, loss or end‑of‑life issues.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, volunteers and external partners.
• Excellent organisational skills, with experience managing referrals and caseloads.

Benefits

Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 6 £43,231 to £52,679 pro rata per annum.

Contract: Permanent Part Time, 30 hours per week.

Location: Onsite Marie Curie Hospice Edinburgh, Frogston Road, West EH10 7DR.
