Wider Achievement & Lifelong Learning Facilities Coordinator – Bangholm Outdoor Centre
Salary: £34,452 – £40,501 (pro‑rated for part time) | Hours: 28.8 per week
The City of Edinburgh Council is committed to safe, impactful outdoor learning and adventure education (OL&AE). The OL&AE Team operates three outdoor centres and has wide‑ranging responsibilities across safety and quality from onsite activity to residential provision.
Bangholm Outdoor Centre provides targeted and universal OL&AE provision to children, young people and adults. This new post offers an opportunity to work closely with the Bangholm Operations Manager, Sales and Operations Officer to shape and grow this role in a meaningful and impactful way.
Experience of OL&AE is not essential. We seek someone with proven business support and facilities/resources coordination skills, and knowledge that can be applied to the OL&AE context.
Core responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and developing the business support functions and systems of Bangholm’s facilities, spaces, resources and programmes.
- Supporting Bangholm’s continued and sustained growth, including income generation via traded services and grant opportunities.
- Liaising with Council staff, service users and partners regarding Bangholm’s facilities, spaces, resources and programmes.
- Ad‑hoc project coordination aligned to Grade 6, personal competency and Bangholm strategic priorities.

The successful applicant will regularly visit or work from locations across the city, including Benmore and Lagganlia Outdoor Centres. The role is predominantly indoor with some outdoor work in varying environmental conditions. Suitable PPE, induction and support are provided. The role may require occasional weekends and evenings, and future line‑management responsibilities. Flexibility with working days will be discussed at interview. The applicant will be line‑managed by the Sales and Operations Manager, with day‑to‑day direction from the Bangholm Operations Manager (matrix management).
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will participate in the PVG Scheme or obtain an update check. If an individual has spent a continuous period of three months or more outside the UK in the last five years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will depend on satisfactory completion of both checks.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
