Job Overview
We are looking for a Data Science and Machine Learning Assistant Manager to support the Audit and Assurance practice in London, working on analytics and data science services for large clients. The role will deliver insights, develop tools, and support audit processes through data analysis and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Provide data analytics/data science services using Python, R, Azure, Databricks, SQL, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Review internal and third‑party data science and cloud solutions.
- Develop and deliver new data science and machine learning tools and solutions to support evolving audit and assurance needs.
- Support clients in large data handling, manipulation, analysis and modelling.
- Work effectively in diverse teams within an inclusive culture.
Required Qualifications
- Strong problem‑solving skills.
- Experience using Python (pandas, numpy, scikit‑learn).
- Solid understanding of the mathematical, probability and statistical principles behind machine‑learning models.
- Experience deploying common machine‑learning algorithms (supervised and unsupervised).
- Good communication and data presentation skills, ability to build recommendations for a non‑technical audience.
- End‑to‑end experience on at least one data‑science project (data wrangling, feature engineering, model training and validation).
- Self‑driven, able to work independently while collaborating.
- Ability to apply data science principles through a business lens.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience using R and familiarity with deep learning or NLP techniques.
- Understanding of large language models, generative AI and prompt engineering.
- Experience with software engineering best practices (test‑driven development, efficient data structures).
- Experience in cloud environments (Azure, AWS).
- Experience using Azure Databricks, Azure MLflow, Azure ML services or similar.
- Experience with Dev/MLOps environments.
- Experience using Git, Excel, SQL, PowerBI, Tableau.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working in Agile development teams.
- Front‑end development experience (React, Django).
- Experience delivering data‑science projects for the financial industry or large/complex organisations.
