Job Title

Commercial Manager / Quantity Surveyor – Dartford

Salary and Benefits

• £60,000–£70,000 per annum (salary up to £70,000) plus car allowance

Responsibilities

• Lead a local commercial team and manage commercial processes to ensure timely, accurate invoicing and cost control across the contract
• Oversee valuation through to final accounts and work with Regional Finance to drive WIP, invoicing and profitability
• Ensure accurate use of the Mears Contract Management System and Mears Subcontractor Portal to support WIP, cost management and KPI reporting
• Provide commercial training and mentoring for commercial, administrative and operational staff
• Support tendering and mobilisation of new work and projects, establishing viable margins and commercial feasibility
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality, customer service and stakeholder communication
• Deliver performance reports and ensure compliance with client reporting protocols and SOPs

Qualifications

• Experience working in social housing and a proven commercial track‑record
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high‑volume, rapidly changing environment
• Experience with partnership, alliance or collaborative working
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with people‑management experience leading and mentoring teams
• Problem‑solving, results orientation, planning and organisational skills
• Decisive decision‑making, negotiation and influence capabilities
• IT literacy with confident oral and written communication
• Analytical skills

Other Requirements

• Entitlement to work within the UK (no visa sponsorship)
• Identity and security checks (DBS/Security)
• Driver’s licence: aged over 21, licence held for at least 3 months, less than 9 points to operate a Mears vehicle (if required)
