The role
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Health Care Assistant to join our dynamic team at Pre‑Assessment Unit within the South Sector. We have been serving and sustaining a well‑established Pre‑Assessment service for our elective surgery patients. We constantly strive to provide great and safe care for our patients. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience of working in surgical or medical units with advanced skills such as phlebotomy and performing 12‑lead ECG. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern
- This is a permanent, full‑time post of 36 hours per week
- The role is based at New Victoria Hospital, G42 9LL
- The shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00
Key responsibilities
As a Health Care Assistant in the Pre‑Assessment Unit you will:
- Support the clinical team in preparing patients for elective surgery.
- Perform regular phlebotomy procedures and 12‑lead ECGs under guidance.
- Safely handle patient instruments and equipment.
- Assist with patient assessment and documentation in an efficient, high‑quality manner.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job
- Caring disposition and experience working in a caring environment or role.
- Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.
- Willingness to undertake training identified as a requirement for the post.
