Position Overview

Knauf (Gypsum) are searching for team members to join our Engineering Team as a Maintenance Technician (Electrical) at our Immingham Plant.

Within this role, the Maintenance Electrician (shift) will be working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern. Each shift is 12 hours. This shift pattern includes days & nights (7am‑7pm or 7pm‑7am).

Do you have

  • Experience working with PLC control systems, ideally Siemens S7.
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work and a strong commitment to health and safety procedures.
  • Experience using CMMS systems, such as SAP, for maintenance management.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensure the safe, efficient and effective operation of process equipment on your shift, responding to process stoppages or abnormalities for diagnosis, isolation and repair.
  • Undertake planned preventative maintenance and improvement activities.
  • Follow company Health and Safety procedures and demonstrate appropriate technical competence in assessing and mitigating risks.
  • Execute efficient and effective reactive maintenance to process interruptions or abnormalities, engaging with the shift operational team to contribute to shift and plant performance objectives.
  • Develop your process knowledge and technical expertise in designated manufacturing processes, contributing to standardisation, optimisation, improvement and diagnostics initiatives such as PLC interrogation, Root Cause Analysis covering set‑up, operation and maintenance.
  • Ensure work is undertaken to a high technical and professional standard, supervising the work of others where necessary.
  • Record all activity and observations in the SAP CMMS with sufficient technical detail to support later analyses.
  • Provide an active contribution to the engineering department activities and support colleagues where required.
  • Complete shift handovers via SAP to ensure safe and effective transition of work tasks and shift activities.
  • Perform effective LOTOTO (Lock Out, Test Out & Tag Out) procedures and issue appropriate permits to work.
  • Complete any other tasks commensurate to your role.

Essential

  • Completed Level 3 NVQ Electrical Apprenticeship with proven problem evaluation and resolving skills.
  • HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or relevant experience).
  • BS7671 IEE 18th Edition.
  • Portable Appliance Testing Certification.
  • Condition Based Maintenance – Thermography and Vibration Analysis.
  • Experience with CMMS systems (Ideally SAP).
  • Knowledge of safe systems of work and procedures and an excellent regard for health and safety.
  • Good communication skills with peers, colleagues and contractors.
  • Ability to work autonomously but also be an active part of the team.
  • Computer literate.

  • Introduction to Instrumentation.
  • HV/LV Switch Gear Practical Introduction.
  • COMPEX Stages Foundation & Ex01 to Ex04 (Gas & Vapours) – Ex05 to Ex06 (Dust).
  • Siemens PLC (S7).
  • Inspection and Testing.
  • Basic Mechanical Maintenance.
  • Project Management.

  • A competitive salary between £47,000 – £52,000 (depending on experience) + bonus + paid overtime.
