Job Description:

Academy Transport Driver – Casual

Location: Carrington Training Complex

Purpose: Transport players and staff to and from training sessions, matches, schools, and other venues across Greater Manchester and wider UK, providing a passenger service within the scheduled transport plan.

Role: Organized driver with safety, control and flexibility to work casual hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends.

Requirements:

  • Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri – Flexible hours between 05:00–09:00 and 13:00–23:00
  • Wed – 07:00–21:00
  • Weekends – as required by activity.

The Person

  • Full, clean driving licence and experience with young/multiple passengers.
  • Regular driving experience, including long distances.
  • Qualified to drive 17‑seater, 9‑seater vehicles (category D1).
  • Relevant MIDAS or PATS training (not essential, training will be provided).
  • Flexible schedule—able to work mornings, evenings and weekends.
  • Confident communicator with colleagues, players, parents and other stakeholders.
  • Enhanced DBS and safeguarding training completed before employment commences.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness for MU fleet vehicles.
  • Develop excellent working relationships with staff, players and parents.
  • Ensure travel arrangements are completed and aligned with the planned route.
  • Complete daily vehicle checks in line with transport regulations.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Ability to use satellite navigation systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experienced driver.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Over 25 years of age with at least 2 years’ driving experience.
  • Clean driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience in transportation and travel arrangements.
  • Basic knowledge of legal framework and driving legislation.
  • Experience working with young people.
  • Advanced or secure driving certification.
  • D1 category on driving licence.
