The Role & About You
As a Train Cleaner based at Leeds Station, you’ll be responsible for the interior cleaning of trains including full cleans, ensuring they are presented to a consistently high standard for customers.
Your duties will include cleaning the interior of train carriages, including toilets, using specialist cleaning equipment such as cleaning solutions, mops, vacuum cleaners, and cloths. A key focus of the role is cleaning high-touch areas, with some trains requiring a quick turnaround to ensure they are ready for service.
You will also carry out CET tanking duties as part of the role.
As you’ll be based at Leeds Station, you may occasionally be approached by customers for directions or assistance. Good communication skills and a helpful attitude are therefore essential.
You’ll be working as part of a close-knit team consisting of 2 Train Presentation Team Leaders and 7 Train Presentation Operatives, helping to maintain high presentation standards across the station.
This is a physically active, hands-on role involving manual labour in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment. You’ll need to be dependable, work well as part of a team, follow procedures, and maintain high standards throughout your shift.
This role operates on a two-week rotating shift pattern:
Week One
- Work: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
- Rest Days: Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Week Two
- Work: Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
- Rest Days: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday
Shift start times rotate every two weeks between:
- 8:00am – 6:00pm
- 9:00am – 7:00pm
- 10:00am – 8:00pm
Successful applicants must be able to pass a railway standard medical examination and Drug & Alcohol screening prior to starting.
