Product Development Engineer – Luxury Bag Hardware
Yibi Group is a premium OEM/ODM manufacturer and strategic supplier to international luxury and fashion brands. We specialise in luxury bag hardware, leather goods components and custom precision metal solutions, supported by a 50,000㎡ advanced manufacturing base in China.
About the Role
We are looking for a London-based Product Development Engineer to support luxury bag and leather goods clients across the UK and Europe. You will act as the technical link between clients and our engineering and manufacturing teams in China, managing custom hardware projects from design review and sampling through technical optimisation and production handover.
Responsibilities
- Manage the development of custom bag hardware, including buckles, locks, clasps, chains, hooks and logo components
- Review drawings, samples and design briefs to identify technical requirements and manufacturing risks
- Coordinate prototypes, sample revisions and client feedback
- Provide recommendations on materials, structure, dimensions, assembly and surface finishing
- Communicate technical information clearly between European clients and China-based teams
- Resolve structural, functional and cosmetic issues during development
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in luxury bag hardware, leather goods accessories, metal components or related product development
- Strong knowledge of metal manufacturing, hardware construction and premium surface finishing
- Experience working with technical drawings, samples and production specifications
- Strong project management and client communication skills
- Fluent English; Mandarin is an advantage
- Must be based in London or able to work regularly with clients in London
