Our workshop and aftersales operations play a critical role in ensuring vehicles are prepared, repaired, maintained and presented to the highest standards. As our business continues to grow, we are looking to strengthen our workshop team with practical, motivated and quality‑focused individuals.

The Role

As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the day‑to‑day control, performance and quality output of the EVM UK workshop. This includes managing technician workload, vehicle preparation, PDI, warranty repairs, retail repairs, internal rework, quality control and workshop compliance.

This is a hands‑on operational management role requiring strong technical understanding, workshop discipline and the ability to keep vehicles moving through the business efficiently and to the correct standard.

The successful candidate will work closely with Aftersales, Parts, Warranty, Engineering and Senior Management to ensure workshop activity supports customer commitments, vehicle delivery targets and EVM’s wider quality standards.

  • Manage the daily and weekly workshop resource planning, technician workload and job priorities.
  • Schedule and coordinate Field Service Technicians, ensuring field work is planned, prioritised and aligned with customer and operational requirements.
  • Control the flow of vehicles through PDI, preparation, warranty, retail, internal and remedial work.
  • Ensure work is completed to the correct technical, safety and quality standard.
  • Maintain strong quality control over vehicle preparation, repair completion and final inspection.
  • Monitor technician productivity, job progress and workshop output.
  • Ensure job cards, labour records, parts usage, repair notes and inspection records are completed accurately.
  • Work closely with Parts to ensure required components are available and delays are escalated early.
  • Support warranty recovery by ensuring repair evidence, photographs, diagnostic reports and technical information are captured correctly.
  • Reduce repeat defects, internal rework, avoidable delays and vehicle downtime.
  • Lead, support and develop the workshop technician team.
  • Maintain high standards of workshop housekeeping, health and safety and safe working practice.
  • Communicate clearly with Aftersales, Warranty, Parts, Engineering and Senior Management on job status, delays and technical concerns.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in line with company procedures, manufacturer guidance and compliance requirements.

Performance will be measured against agreed KPIs including workshop productivity, job completion, PDI quality, repeat defects, rework levels, job card accuracy, warranty evidence quality, vehicle downtime and health and safety compliance.

The Package

  • 25 days holiday + Bank holidays.
  • Statutory Sick Pay.
  • Workplace Pension Scheme.
  • Employee Benefits Portal.
  • Cycle to Work Scheme.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven experience in a Workshop Manager, Workshop Controller, Service Manager, Senior Technician or Technical Supervisor role.
  • Experience within Mercedes‑Benz commercial vehicles, PSV, bus, coach, HGV, LCV or specialist vehicle environments would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle repair, diagnostics, PDI, maintenance and roadworthiness standards.
  • Ability to manage multiple live jobs, set priorities and keep work moving efficiently.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, support and challenge technicians.
  • Good understanding of job cards, labour recording, parts usage, warranty evidence and repair documentation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work across Workshop, Aftersales, Parts, Warranty, Engineering and Management teams.
  • Good IT skills and confidence using workshop, service or dealer management systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • PSV licence, IRTEC, City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent technical qualifications would be beneficial but are not essential.
