Overview

Are you an experienced Engineering Manager within a fast-paced heavy industry production environment? Do you advocate for maintenance excellence? This role is based in Corby, UK.

Tata Steel are seeking an Engineering Manager on a permanent basis to join their Corby works. Corby works has undergone significant investment and the successful applicant will be part of the new and emerging cold mill, warehouse, engineering workshops and stores. Only applicants based in the UK and with significant heavy industry experience will be considered.

Rate: Competitive and based upon experience

Start: ASAP, subject to a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol test)

Responsibilities

  • Be part of the Corby Operations Leadership team (COLT) and advocate safety, performance and strategy.
  • Lead a team of skilled engineers to ensure manufacturing assets and site infrastructure meet the highest safety standards.
  • Promote continuous development across the site to improve safety and plant performance.
  • Occasionally travel to other Tata Steel sites for networking events and face-to-face meetings.
  • Provide engineering support, knowledge and leadership to manufacturing operations.
  • Implement asset reliability against Tata Steel UK maintenance and reliability models.
  • Determine timetables and programmes for PPM and manage the programmes as needed.
  • Coach and mentor the team towards excellence.

Essential requirements

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Previous experience delivering maintenance excellence programmes within a heavy industry environment (2+ years).
  • Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Chartered membership (or working towards).
  • Prior experience leading a diverse team (100+) with a range of experiences and skillsets.
  • Sound understanding of management systems.
  • Good IT literacy, especially with MS Office.
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing KPIs, loss analysis and improvement metrics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation.
