We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated Youth Outreach Workers to join our nationally recognised youth offer. This is an exciting opportunity to work directly with young people in their communities, helping them to overcome challenges, develop confidence, improve wellbeing and access positive opportunities.

As a Casual Youth Outreach Worker, you will play a key role in delivering outreach youth work, engaging with young people where they are, listening to their voices and supporting them to shape activities, projects and services that meet their needs.

Overall Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of the role is to engage, support and empower young people through outreach work within the community. You will build positive relationships, providing activities and interventions, supporting young people to access opportunities, develop skills and achieve their goals.

You will develop and coordinate community responses that are shaped by the voices of young people, ensuring activities are inclusive, accessible and promote the participation of all young people while respecting diversity, individuality and differing needs.

Responsibilities

What we expect you to do:

  • Engage with young people in their communities through outreach work and activities.
  • Listen to young people’s voices and help shape activities, projects and services to meet their needs.
  • Develop and coordinate community responses that are inclusive and accessible to all young people.
  • Support young people to access opportunities, develop skills and achieve their goals.
  • Build positive relationships and provide interventions to support wellbeing and confidence.

About You

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, bank holidays and school holiday periods. The role may occasionally require availability at short notice
  • Friendly, and community-minded individuals to drive our youth bus or support the driver in the delivery of outreach activities across local communities in the East Riding
  • Offer flexible working, including evenings, bank hols, weekends and could be at short notice
  • Are passionate about improving outcomes for young people, have experience of working with young people aged 11–25 years (paid or voluntary)
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can engage and motivate young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Understand the challenges and opportunities facing young people today
  • Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Can adapt to different environments and situations
  • Are reliable, professional and enthusiastic
