Quality Manager, Engineering & Manufacturing – York, North Yorkshire
Salary: £47,000 per annum plus bonus
Bonus: Up to 8% of salary, paid annually based on company and personal performance
Join a business where quality truly defines success. This role leads quality strategy, strengthens the Quality Management System (QMS), and drives excellence across inspection, quality engineering, supplier quality, and wider quality deliverables. This role follows an internal promotion.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Quality Management System (QMS) including plans, procedures, processes, records, and corrective actions.
- Manage, support, and develop the Quality team, including welfare, training, performance, and professional development.
- Act as the quality lead across all departments, ensuring customer standards and requirements are met.
- Oversee non-conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and customer complaint systems.
- Manage internal and external audits, certification bodies, and act as the Management Representative during audits.
- Drive continuous improvement and support operational excellence initiatives.
- Lead supplier quality activities and ensure robust calibration programme management.
- Develop and improve inspection methods for incoming and in-process inspection.
- Track, analyse, and improve quality KPIs, celebrating success and implementing countermeasures.
- Ensure quality is embedded into new products and processes through effective NPI management.
What You’ll Bring
- Certified Lead Auditor or Internal Auditor for ISO 9001 (or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a Quality Manager or senior quality role within manufacturing, engineering or Aerospace.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Experience managing internal/external audits and certification bodies.
- Expertise in quality processes, non-conformance management, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
- Experience developing and implementing Quality Plans and maintaining QMS.
- People management skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- Desirable: Experience within aerospace/defence, AS9100 knowledge, ERP systems (ideally IFS), calibration programme management, and working across global time zones.
