Hours: 37.5 hours over four days (Monday-Thursday) OR 37.5 hours over three nights (Monday-Wednesday) both with flexible start and finish times*

Salary: £15 – £16 per hour dependent on experience with a 25% uplift for night shift

Polytec are looking for experienced CNC Milling Setter/Operators to join our Ely based precision engineering client. Opportunities are available on both a four-day day shift and a three-night night shift, offering compressed working weeks and flexible start and finish times.

*Hours: 37.5 hours worked over a compressed working week:

– Day Shift: Monday to Wednesday, 7:30am – 5:15pm, and Thursday, 7:30am – 4:45pm (15-minute lunch break each day)

– Night Shift: Monday to Wednesday, 6:00pm – 6:30am

Flexible start and finish times are available to support work-life balance, subject to business needs.

Responsibilities:

– Set up, adjust and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision-engineered components

– Load and run CNC programmes, ensuring machines are correctly prepared for production

– Produce first-off components for inspection and approval before commencing full production runs

– Carry out in-process and final quality inspections, recording results against engineering drawings and specifications

– Monitor machine performance to maximise productivity, maintain accuracy and minimise downtime

– Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and work instructions

– Perform routine machine maintenance and basic equipment checks within your area of responsibility

– Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, quality and efficiency

Requirements:

– Previous experience setting and operating CNC milling machines within a manufacturing environment

– Knowledge of Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems

– Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and technical documentation

– Experience machining a variety of materials, including stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel, brass and engineering plastics, is desirable

– Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on quality

– Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills

– Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
