Principal Mechanical Engineer in Birmingham, West Midlands (County)

Enpure Ltd is a progressive organisation in water and wastewater services and is looking to recruit a self‑motivated and engaging Principal Mechanical Engineer with strong analytical skills and experience in technical design, delivery and management of water and wastewater engineering projects.

Your New Role

Lead and contribute on feasibility, outline and detailed design projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Design of mechanical installations such as municipal water and wastewater treatment works, pumping stations, ventilation systems, penstocks, valves, odour control systems, chemical dosing systems, and pipework.
• Interface with clients and collaborators in design and planning.
• Conduct site visits to complete surveys and liaise with clients, government authorities, contractors, and suppliers.
• Integrate with other disciplines within the business and externally to agree and confirm design solutions.
• Support bidding and contribute proactively to securing work.
• Deliver projects within agreed budget, programme, and quality standards.
• Take ownership of specific skill areas or activities within our technical knowledge networks.
• Mentor and provide technical input, serving as a technical advisor to the team.
• Seek innovation and trial new methods, maintaining an inquisitive nature.
• Contribute to the development of engineering specifications and procedures to meet requirements.
• Present project work at company meetings and conferences.
• Work with and develop our digital tools and products.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree‑qualified with a mechanical engineering bias.
• Extensive UK water and wastewater industry experience.
• Blend of leadership and technical expertise.
• Experience managing and mentoring teams and/or individuals and/or projects, potentially across disciplines and locations.
• Desire to develop a junior engineering team.
• A developing external profile and reputation; willingness to raise the profile of oneself and the company.
• Willingness to contribute to and develop our technical knowledge networks.
• Water and wastewater treatment project experience across feasibility, outline, detailed design, and construction support (extremely desirable).
• Experience using a 3D design tool and other proprietary software products.
• Chartered member of a recognised engineering institution.
