Role Summary

As a Large Corporate Relationship Director, you will manage a portfolio of corporate clients, driving growth through acquisition, relationship management, and retention. You will develop tailored funding and lending solutions, act as a trusted adviser, manage risk and compliance, drive business development, coach and mentor teams, champion digital adoption, and promote Santander’s values.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a portfolio of corporate clients, driving growth in line with Santander’s strategic priorities.
  • Develop and deliver tailored funding and lending solutions, collaborating with Credit Risk, Portfolio Management, and Treasury.
  • Act as a trusted adviser, building deep, long‑term relationships with clients and business introducers.
  • Manage risk effectively, ensuring compliance with credit policies, regulatory frameworks, and financial crime standards.
  • Proactively identify new opportunities, supporting sustainable revenue growth and profitability targets.
  • Provide coaching, performance management and mentoring to Relationship Managers.
  • Champion digital adoption, using platforms such as Salesforce and nCino to deliver efficient onboarding and improve client experience.
  • Promote Santander’s values and culture, acting as an ambassador for the bank.

Qualifications

  • Professional Experience
    • Experience developing and driving a business development strategy to deliver corporate bank growth.
    • High level of credit underwriting and financial crime risk skills.
    • Proven record of providing high‑quality client experience.
    • Proven experience with corporate businesses.
    • Proven knowledge of risks and mitigations.
    • Excellent presentation, negotiation, analytical, and report‑writing skills.
  • Education
    • Degree‑level education in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting (or equivalent experience).
    • Relevant professional banking or finance qualification (e.g., Chartered Banker, ACIB, CFA, ACCA) preferred.
    • Advanced credit and risk analysis training or certification preferred.
  • Hard Skills
    • Advanced credit and financial analysis – assess risk, structure complex lending solutions, and prepare high‑quality credit submissions.
    • Strong commercial acumen – deep understanding of corporate banking products, markets, and the wider economic environment.
    • Digital proficiency – confident use of CRM and workflow tools such as Salesforce, nCino, and Office365.

    • Exceptional relationship management and communication skills – engage and influence clients, stakeholders, and colleagues effectively.
    • Leadership and coaching ability – inspire and develop others, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Benefits

  • Salary: £83,200.00 – £124,800.00 per annum (dependent on experience).
  • 35‑hour standard working week; annual salary based on this schedule.
  • Holiday: 30 days plus bank holidays (31 days following 5years of service); option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
