Senior AI Engineer

Role Description

We are looking for software engineers and data scientists with a passion for AI and data workflows to join our Digital & Data community. The role focuses on experimenting with emerging AI tools, building generative AI prototypes, and deploying solutions on modern cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Work to agile best practices and collaborate cross‑functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders.
• Use technical skills to problem‑solve for clients and work on internal projects.
• Participate in live in‑person whiteboarding sessions and engage in asynchronous communication via Teams.
• Build and deploy retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) prototypes with vector stores and knowledge graphs.
• Develop and test agentic architectures on our Genie Platform, enabling AI agents that reason, retrieve, and act across systems.
• Explore and experiment with generative AI frameworks and tools such as LangChain, LlamaIndex, Hugging Face, and APIs from OpenAI and Anthropic.
• Deploy solutions on modern cloud and DevOps environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) selecting the right tools for each problem.
• Continuously learn, test, and share findings across the internal AI community.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in a language suitable for AI system development and data workflows.
• Experience integrating models with APIs, data sources, or production systems.
• Curiosity about LLMs, RAG pipelines (graph & vector based), and agent frameworks.
• Understanding of cloud‑native architecture (AWS / GCP / Azure) and DevOps / DevSecOps practices.
• Collaborative mindset and willingness to share, learn, and teach.
• Understanding of prompt and context engineering and model evaluation.
• Solid grasp of distributed systems, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Knowledge of LLMOps tools for managing GenAI workflows.

Security & Background Checks

All PA people are required to undergo background checks and to achieve the Baseline Personnel Security Standard. Some UK roles also require higher levels of National Security Vetting, requiring at least 5 years of continuous residency in the UK.
