Student Influence Coordinator (Change Lab)

The Role
‘Change Lab’ is a programme created and developed in‑house by the Sheffield Students’ Union to support students studying at the University of Sheffield in effecting change and cultivating skills in citizenship and community organising. The focus is on bringing communities together to create opportunities for positive change and to take action on key local issues.
Key Responsibilities
As Project Coordinator you will:
- Oversee all aspects of the Change Lab project and mobilise students to produce meaningful, lasting impact on issues local to Sheffield.
- Support students to research key city issues and identify where change‑making could have the biggest community impact, contacting stakeholders to explore core problems and scoping their projects.
- Help students develop strategies and action plans, facilitating collaboration with peers and community groups.
- Co‑ordinate and host events, speakers and networking activities to raise visibility of student campaigns.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of city concerns and emerging opportunities to maximise positive impact.

- Opportunities to connect with third‑sector organisations, local authorities and other active groups in the city
- Speaker and networking events featuring individuals and organisations that have successfully delivered change strategies
Ideal Candidate
Highly motivated, highly organised project manager who enjoys building productive networks and systems. An effective motivator and influencer with a strong understanding of the motivations and barriers for University students and organisations in involving them. Experience of partnership working and delivering objectives collaboratively will be beneficial. You should possess the skills to maximise opportunities and resolve concerns, manage multiple lines of activity and plan effectively.
