About the Opportunity

Teaching Assistant in Computer Science at Northeastern University London, located in London, Devon House / Portsoken (St Katherines Dock). Part‑time (up to 0.4 FTE), fixed term (01 September 2026 – 31 May 2027).

Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: Teaching Assistant (G6) £37,960 to £41,461, progressing to £42,701 per annum once in post.

Role Overview

The role supports undergraduate teaching (Levels 4–5) in Python programming and discrete structures. Key duties include:

  • Lead laboratory sessions under faculty guidance.
  • Support students during lab and recitation sessions.
  • Assist with equipment set‑up and tear‑down during labs.
  • Mark formative and summative assignments.
  • Complete required training and attend coordination meetings.
  • Respond to or forward student queries.

Qualifications & Criteria

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree, or equivalent professional experience, in a relevant area.
  • PhD completed or near completion (desirable).
  • AFHEA status or equivalent, achieved or expected (desirable).

  • Demonstrated ability to be adaptable, innovative, and inclusive in teaching.
  • Excellent personalised support in a lab‑based setting.
  • Flexibility and capacity to support course leaders in providing experiential learning opportunities.
  • Core knowledge up to Level 6.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including face‑to‑face and online delivery.
  • Strong IT skills and integration of technologies into learning.
  • Excellent time‑management and organisational skills.

Job Governance

Reporting to a line manager within the Faculty of CoMENS. Position type: Part‑time fixed term.
