Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Hyde

Smile Education is recruiting a dedicated and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming primary school in Hyde.

The role

Full‑time position based in Hyde, starting September2026. The daily rate is £110–£130, depending on experience, with the possibility of becoming a permanent role.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with teachers and the wider school team, delivering planned learning.
• Lead intervention groups and provide whole‑class cover as required.
• Assist with behaviour management and support pupils across the primary age range.
• Plan and support lessons, activities and assessments for students with a variety of learning needs, including SEND.

Requirements

• Holds a recognised HLTA qualification or has relevant experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant.
• Recent UK primary school experience.
• Confidence covering classes across the primary age range.
• Ability to deliver planned lessons and learning activities with confidence.
• Experience supporting pupils with a range of learning needs, including SEND.
• Excellent communication, behaviour management and organisational skills.
• Works well as part of a team while demonstrating initiative when working independently.
• Committed to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Holds an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply for one.
