Principal Chartered Structural Engineer

Lead & Grow a Structural Engineering Division | North West England

Salary – Negotiable DOE

Ceto Talent is partnering with a well‑established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy to recruit a Principal Chartered Structural Engineer to lead and develop its Structural Engineering division. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced structural engineer to step into a strategic leadership role, taking ownership of an established team while driving the future growth of the department.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you’ll play a key role in shaping the business, expanding its project portfolio and leading the delivery of high‑quality structural engineering solutions across the North West and beyond.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and managing the Structural Engineering team on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Driving the growth and development of the structural division as part of the company’s long‑term strategy.
  • Leading the design and delivery of structural engineering projects from concept through to completion.
  • Providing technical leadership and mentoring to engineers and technicians.
  • Undertaking structural surveys and providing expert engineering advice.
  • Preparing and reviewing structural calculations, drawings and technical specifications.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Supporting business development activities and helping to secure new opportunities.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.

We’re looking for someone with

  • At least 15 years’ UK structural engineering experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status (MIStructE and/or MICE).
  • Previous experience leading structural engineering teams within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong technical expertise across both superstructure and substructure design.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and client relationship skills.
  • A proactive commercial mindset with the ability to support business growth and develop client relationships.
  • A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng).
