Gas Team Leader Grade 4

Purpose of this role

Installation of Gas Infrastructure (On and Off‑Site Works). Taking responsibility for a Team.

Your key responsibilities

  • Always work safely wearing relevant PPE that is supplied.
  • Install and commission gas infrastructure as instructed, ensuring that all work is undertaken to a high standard of safety and technical quality by following all appropriate generic and specific method statements, work procedures and safety instructions.
  • Accept delivery of plant and materials and check fitness for purpose prior to use.
  • Ensure vehicles, plant and equipment remain in good condition, and report any defects to the Project Manager.
  • Identify at an early stage all contract variations and report to the Project Manager and work in accordance with the company Variation and Deviations Procedure.
  • Complete site‑specific risk assessments daily and ensure maintenance of a safe working environment.
  • Act as a Competent Person for ROs and NROs (if assessed as competent).
  • Attend Toolbox Talks and other training courses as required.
  • Record accurately details of work undertaken.
  • Submit relevant work details for recording and invoicing in the required timescale.
  • Any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Project Manager that fall within the general experience scope of the individual.

Qualifications

  • GN02 for Main Laying / Service Laying (or equivalent).
  • NRSWA certificate for operatives.
  • Gas Network Safety Passport (SHEA).

Experience / Knowledge

  • Working in Public Highways.
  • Identify and understand Utility Plans.

Abilities / Skills

  • Full UK driving license and driving experience.
  • Operating Pneumatic equipment.
  • Using Mechanical Excavators up to 10T.
  • GNO 2 ELR.
  • Gas Safe Registration.
  • CCN1 – Domestic Core Gas Safety.
  • MET1 – Domestic Gas Meters.
  • REGT1 – Domestic MP Regulator.
  • Relevant training in underground safety and confined space.
  • Use of camera techniques in live gas mains and services.

Conditions of Employment

  • Criminal records check through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is required.
  • Participation in a standby rota is required.
  • Holding a driving licence is required.
