Electrical Maintenance Engineer Ballymena – £20-£22.77/hr

Week 2 – 12pm-8.30pm (Currently trialling 10pm-6.30am)
The Company
Our client is a well-established food processing business based in Ballymena, supplying high-quality products to leading retailers and foodservice customers across the UK and Ireland. Due to continued investment and growth, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of production machinery through planned preventative maintenance, rapid response to breakdowns, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role is predominantly electrical, although candidates should have solid mechanical maintenance skills and be comfortable working across both disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults to minimise downtime.
- Perform mechanical repairs including bearings, chains, belts, gearboxes, pumps and conveyors.
- Fault-find on PLC-controlled machinery
- Maintain motors, sensors, inverters, control panels and electrical distribution systems.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and restore production efficiently.
- Support continuous improvement and reliability projects.
- Ensure maintenance records are completed accurately using the CMMS.
- Work closely with production teams to improve equipment performance.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping and comply with all food safety, health & safety and hygiene procedures.
Essential Criteria
- Time-served Electrical Maintenance Engineer.
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong electrical fault-finding skills.
- Good mechanical maintenance experience.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience within the food or FMCG industry.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Knowledge of HACCP or food manufacturing standards.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Experience using CMMS maintenance systems.
