Are you a time‑served Maintenance Engineer with some exposure to projects, reliability projects, process improvement or machinery installations looking to take the next step in your career?

I’m working with a well‑established manufacturing business who are looking to appoint a Project Engineer to support ongoing site investment and improvement activity.

This role is ideal for someone who has had some exposure to projects but is looking to build a stronger foundation and develop long‑term within this space.

The Role

This is a Hands‑on Project‑focused engineering role with a clear pathway into project delivery. You’ll be involved in supporting and delivering a range of site‑based projects, while still utilising your maintenance engineering background.

Responsible for:

  • Supporting the planning, installation and commissioning of new equipment
  • Working closely with engineering and operations teams to deliver projects safely and efficiently
  • Coordinating contractors and ensuring work is completed to standard, on time and within budget
  • Assisting with documentation, drawings and project updates
  • Identifying opportunities to improve site performance, reliability and processes
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and future investment plans

This is not a purely desk‑based role, you’ll be on the ground, involved in delivery, gaining real project experience.

What We’re Looking For

  • Time‑served apprenticeship (essential)
  • Background as a Maintenance Engineer (electrical, mechanical or multi‑skilled)
  • MUST HAVE ELECTRICAL QUALIFICATION
  • Previous exposure to projects, reliability, process improvement, or installations
  • Strong hands‑on engineering capability
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Experience within food, FMCG or manufacturing environments is advantageous

Why Apply?

  • Clear pathway into a Project Engineering career
  • £3k development budget per annum, for you to choose courses and pathways of how you wish to develop with City & Guilds recognised courses, Prince 2 or more
  • Opportunity to gain hands‑on project experience
  • Join a business investing in site and equipment improvements
  • Stable, long‑term opportunity within a growing manufacturing environment
  • Salary up to £55,000

This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who wants to move away from purely reactive maintenance and develop a career in projects, while still staying close to the shop floor.
