Advanced Practitioner Social Worker – Adult Safeguarding Team (MASH)
Wirral Council, Birkenhead.
Contract: Agency Contract (3 month, ongoing) – PAYE: £29.76 per hour; Umbrella: £38.38 per hour.
Location: 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead, Merseyside.
Working Pattern: Hybrid and flexible working approach, subject to service needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a complex caseload involving high levels of risk, safeguarding concerns, and court‑related work.
- Take a lead role in adult safeguarding practice, ensuring compliance with legislation, policies, procedures, and best practice guidance.
- Support practitioners with complex safeguarding enquiries and high‑risk cases.
- Chair Adult Protection meetings where cases involve significant complexity or risk.
- Provide mentoring, guidance, and professional support to social care practitioners.
- Undertake quality assurance of assessments, reports, court documentation, and safeguarding interventions.
- Support risk management, investigation, and protection planning to achieve positive outcomes for adults at risk.
- Develop and promote effective multi‑agency working with partner organisations.
- Lead on service development initiatives and safeguarding improvement projects.
- Support staff development through practice education, supervision, training, and peer learning initiatives.
- Authorise reports and assessments, ensuring evidence‑based decision‑making and high‑quality practice standards.
Requirements
- Social Work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW or equivalent).
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Significant post‑qualification experience within Adult Social Care.
- Extensive safeguarding experience, including complex safeguarding enquiries and risk management.
- Previous experience working at an Advanced Practitioner level.
- Best Interests Assessor (BIA) qualification.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Adult Safeguarding legislation and guidance, and Court of Protection processes.
- Experience supervising, mentoring, and supporting colleagues.
- Ability to chair meetings and work effectively within multi‑agency environments.
