NHS Dumfries and Galloway is seeking a highly motivated and forward thinking Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our developing Stroke team at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.
About The Role
This is a permanent full time Band 7 post, offering the opportunity to work as part of an experienced multidisciplinary stroke team. Part time hours will be considered.
In This Role, You Will
- Assess and manage patients presenting with stroke symptoms in the Emergency Department
- Review inpatients on the Stroke Unit
- Deliver outpatient care, including ANP led clinics
- Work alongside another ANP and a skilled team of Stroke Nurse Specialists
- Provide autonomous advanced clinical decision making within agreed protocols
- Contribute to service improvement and high quality, patient centred stroke care
The service anticipates providing additional cover at weekends, in particular Saturday working in the near future, and the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the Stroke on call rota.
Applicants should hold a minimum of a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Practice and have independent prescribing status. You should demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, sound judgement, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Development Opportunity – Trainee ANP (Stroke)
We are also pleased to consider applications for a Trainee ANP (Stroke). This post is offered at Band 6 on a 23 month fixed term basis, progressing to Band 7 upon successful completion of the required qualifications (minimum postgraduate diploma in Advanced Practice with independent prescribing).
- Trainee post: 36 hours per week
- A bonding agreement applies, requiring candidates to remain with NHS Dumfries and Galloway for two years post training. Early departure would require repayment of training costs on a sliding scale.
