DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Project Management Department is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering projects that match organisational goals, client expectations, and regulatory requirements. The team oversees the full project lifecycle — from initial scoping and budgeting to execution, monitoring, and final handover.

JOB OBJECTIVE

The Assistant Project Manager – Acquisition supports the delivery of acquisition and planning workstreams across a portfolio of mobile telecoms sites. Working closely with the Acquisition & Design Manager, the role coordinates acquisition activities, manages reporting and governance, and supports communication between clients, site providers, acquisition agents, planners and internal teams.

The role plays a key part in maintaining programme performance by tracking milestones, managing project data, coordinating stakeholders and ensuring acquisition activities progress in line with customer requirements, programme deadlines and company standards.

  • Hours of Work: 8:00am – 17:30pm / Monday to Friday
  • Rate of Pay: Depending on Experience
  • Work Location: Southampton
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to client, partner and subcontractor offices as required
  • Holiday Entitlements: 33 days including Bank Holidays

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support delivery of acquisition and planning workstreams across multiple telecoms sites.
  • Coordinate acquisition agents, planners, surveyors, legal teams and design resources.
  • Track key milestones including acquisition completion, planning submission, planning approval and legal access achievement.
  • Support programme planning, scheduling, change control and issue resolution.
  • Maintain accurate project records, trackers and documentation.

Governance & Reporting

  • Provide administrative and project support to the Acquisition & Design Manager.
  • Produce regular reports on progress, risks, issues and programme performance.
  • Ensure project governance requirements are met and records remain audit ready.
  • Update internal and external customer systems, tools and reporting platforms.

Stakeholder Management

  • Support customer and stakeholder communications throughout project delivery.
  • Coordinate meetings, actions and follow-ups with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
  • Assist with managing escalations, expectations and delivery commitments.
  • Build positive working relationships across the programme.

Commercial & Compliance

  • Support monitoring of project budgets, forecasts and delivery performance.
  • Assist with identifying risks, variations and out-of-scope activities.Ensure activities comply with company processes, customer requirements and SHEQ standards.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential

  • Experience supporting project delivery, acquisition, planning or programme coordination within telecoms, utilities, construction or infrastructure.
  • Strong organisational, planning and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and experience working with programme targets.
  • Strong data management and reporting capabilities.
  • Methodical, diligent and proactive approach.

Desirable

  • Mobile telecoms acquisition experience.
  • Knowledge of ECC, planning processes and landlord negotiations.
  • NTQ experience.
  • Relevant project management qualification or working towards one.
