The Cancer Data ProjectCoordinator is a 12-month fixed term position. The successful candidate willwork closely with the Cancer Data Project Manager and site-specificmultidisciplinary teams to support delivery of a range of data improvementprojects.

You will support the planning,coordination and delivery of data improvement projects under the direction ofthe Cancer Data Project Manager. This will include developing, maintaining andupdating project documentation throughout the project lifecycle. In addition,you will work with relevant staff to facilitate active participation in allwork streams and achieve the project aims.

Working across multiple NHSsystems, you will identify data gaps and support the development of solutions,including data dashboards, reports, patient surveys and recommendations forservice improvement.

Main duties of the job

You will support the CancerData Project Manager to deliver all the project objectives, using strongadministrative skills to update and maintain key documentation throughout theproject lifecycle.

Using your analytical skills,you will identify data gaps and opportunities for improvement, extracting andcombining information from existing healthcare systems to create new reportsdesigned to improve patient pathways and experience.

You will use excellentcommunication skills to work with clinical teams, patients and other keystakeholders, obtaining insight and information which will contribute todelivery of identified project outcomes.

With support from Cancer DataProject Manager, you will provide day to day supervision, support and guidancefor two Band 3 Cancer Data ProjectOfficers.

Job responsibilities

You will work across multiple healthcaresystems to review existing data, data collection methodology and reportingfunctionality, identifying opportunities to create bespoke solutions. Workingwith Cancer Data Project Manager, you will consolidate data from multiplesources to support development of new reports, dashboards and StandardOperating Procedures (SOPs). As part ofthe role, you will develop patient surveys, working directly with clinicalsteams people affected by cancer to ensure they are completed.

You will keep track of the projects progress,ensuring all documentation is up to date and work collaboratively withcolleagues and key stakeholders to support timely delivery of the projectoutcomes.

Person Specification

Special Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to apply practical analytical skills to support data collection, validation and reporting.
  • Understanding of NHS Data standards and their application to the management of patient data collection.
  • Knowledge of NHS healthcare systems acquired through work-based experience.
  • Possess a sound working knowledge of data collection, extraction and reporting.
  • Experience of supporting data quality improvement activities.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data management and reporting.
  • Ability to work independently but also be a good team worker.
  • Able to demonstrate a responsible and mature approach to work and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate ability to work to specific deadlines.
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify
  • problems and work with team to solve and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
  • Ability to communicate and work with a wide range of professional and administrative staff.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English and Mathematics (Grades A-C).
  • NVQ 4 in business administration/BTEC Business diploma or equivalent experience/qualification
  • Certificate/Diploma in Healthcare Informatics related subject or relevant experience

  • Ability to input data for significant periods of time.
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks whilst managing frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to cope with exposure to details about patients that may be distressing.
  • Ability and willingness to travel across trust sites as required.
  • Positive attitude towards change.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
  • Driving posts musty have valid Full UK driving licence

Experience

  • Experience of using data capture systems for the collection, validation and reporting of information.
  • Experience of data collection, validation and reporting.
  • Ability to summarise and present data in an appropriate format
  • Experience of producing routine reports and summaries.
  • Previous experience of working in the NHS.
  • Experience implementing quality improvement processes.
  • Experience of contributing to the development and maintenance of SOPs.
  • Experience of supporting patient surveys and analysing results.
