Apply for the Senior Front Office Production Engineer – Electronic Trading
Location: London
Job Description:

Ever wondered what’s actually happening behind a $3 trillion trading day?

We’re hiring a Senior Front Office Production Engineer to join the technical operations team behind a leading global electronic trading platform in fixed income and derivatives — supporting a live, real-time trading ecosystem spanning 40+ markets, three time zones, and thousands of institutional clients.

This isn’t ticket-queue support, and it isn’t pure FIX connectivity or monitoring work either. You’ll be the person who traces a problem all the way down through the application, into the OS, into the database, into the network, until you actually know what broke and why, often before a developer even gets pulled in. You’ll look at a wall of alerts, work out what actually matters in the next 90 seconds, and make the right call while explaining it clearly to the people relying on you.

What you’ll actually do:

  • Own the application layer of a mission-critical trading platform across Production and UAT
  • Diagnose issues fast across logs, code, OS, and network – not just identify that something’s wrong, but why, down to the root cause
  • Write and read code to investigate live issues, not just to automate afterwards — you’ll use scripting as a diagnostic tool, not just a productivity one
  • Be the technical bridge between engineering, the trading desk, and clients when things go sideways
  • Build the automation that means the same incident doesn’t happen twice
  • Take part in go-lives, DR testing, and configuration management for a platform that genuinely cannot go dark

What you’ll bring:

  • Real production experience on a live, high-stakes system (trading, exchange, prop, or genuinely real-time fintech platforms) where you were the one investigating, not just escalating
  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similarly technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on depth that shows the same analytical grounding
  • Comfortable across Windows and Linux at a genuine troubleshooting level
  • SQL fluency and scripting ability (Python, PowerShell, or similar) that you’ve used to debug a live problem, not only to build a report or automate a task
  • Ability to read object-oriented code (C++, Java, or similar) and reason about what it’s doing, even if you don’t write it daily
  • A calm head under pressure and the instinct to communicate while you’re still mid-investigation, not after
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early starts, evenings, and a weekend maintenance rotation
