Job Description:

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established organisation within the biomedical research sector for a Site Maintenance Technician to join their facilities team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practical, hands‑on individual looking to build a long-term career in site maintenance, with full training provided including exposure to basic electrical tasks.

The Role

As Site Maintenance Technician, you’ll support the day‑to‑day upkeep of the site, ensuring buildings, equipment, and grounds are maintained to a high standard. You’ll work alongside experienced maintenance staff, gaining hands‑on exposure to a variety of trades, including some basic electrical work, as part of a varied and rewarding role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out routine maintenance checks and general repairs across the site
  • Assisting with basic electrical tasks under supervision (e.g. changing fittings, minor repairs)
  • Supporting plumbing, carpentry, and general handyman duties as required
  • Maintaining grounds, external areas, and site cleanliness
  • Reporting faults and escalating issues to senior maintenance staff or contractors
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with site health and safety procedures
  • Assisting with planned preventative maintenance schedules

What We’re Looking For

  • Some experience in a maintenance, labouring, handyman, or trades‑related role
  • A willingness to learn, including developing electrical skills, no formal electrical qualification required
  • Practical, hands‑on approach with good problem‑solving ability
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work well as part of a team
  • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in a varied role
  • A full UK driving licence would be advantageous
