Background
This role will require the post-holder to begin their role, including training, from week commencing 14 th September 2026. You will be employed at a Grade 3 with work periods during term-time. We are therefore looking for candidates who are interested in committing to a year-long position with us.
Role Summary
What you’ll do:
- Represent CN / B-Enterprising: Act as an ambassador and source of insight for the service, demonstrating the friendliness, professionalism and expertise of Careers Network.
- Engage and create: Find creative ways to tell fellow students about B-Enterprising and how the service can support them to reach their goals now and into the future.
- Storytelling: Capture student/graduate stories.
- Support events: Play a part in the delivery of fun and meaningful events on campus, online and at the Exchange.

Main Duties
- Gain specific understanding of what B-Enterprising do around entrepreneurship and freelancing to representing the B-Enterprising team at Careers Corner.
- Become an integral part of the team, building relationships with founders, including Elevate Cohort 6 and alumni.
- Work closely with the programme and events team to co-create and deliver programme and event materials for the B-Enterprising team.
- Tell the story of B-Enterprising, including:
- Student / Graduate stories
- Case Studies
- Video Testimonials
- Podcast Interviews
- Social Media Promotion
- Webpage Development
- Support programme launch and event co-ordination
- Assist in the creation of engaging digital communications and social media content, collating content as provided, liaising with colleagues, and providing creative input.
- Create marketing assets, develop student stories and schedule social media posts.
- Monitor other university entrepreneurship programmes digital presence to benchmark, review best practice and suggest approaches to content curation for a student audience.
- Support activities to raise Careers Network’s brand on campus, which includes working on collaborative projects in CN, and with student groups and target cohorts.
Person Specification
Essential:
- A current student at the University of Birmingham (any level of study or degree discipline) through the academic year 2026/27.
- Demonstrable interest in and understanding of issues around careers and employability and enterprise, and / or your personal and professional development.
- Demonstrable knowledge and passion for social media, as well as creativity and confidence to contribute ideas, engage with students and staff, and be bold.
- Excellent written and oral communication, with the ability to adapt to different groups.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability and enthusiasm to engage other students.
- Excellent professionalism, organisation, time-management and self-motivation.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to proofread and copywriting skills.
- Evidence of use of initiative, creative thinking and of implementing creative ideas.
- Digital literacy and adaptability, and ability to use MS Office / MS 365 programmes.
- A positive, teamwork, enthusiastic, flexible and problem-solving approach to working.
- Commitment to the working hours and contract duration.
Desirable:
- Experience of project planning
- Experience of using email campaign software such as Mailjet
- Knowledge of Canva
