Estimator – Main Contractor London | Permanent | 50,000-90,000 DOE | Career Progression A growing main contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Estimator to join its commercial/pre-construction team on a long-term basis. You’ll be joining a busy team with a strong pipeline of work and will have the opportunity to take responsibility for multiple tenders at different stages. The role will typically involve managing around 3-4 live tenders at any one time, working closely with the wider commercial and operational teams to develop competitive and commercially sound bids. Key Responsibilities
- Managing and pricing live tenders from enquiry through to submission
- Taking ownership of multiple tenders simultaneously
- Preparing detailed and accurate estimates
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation
- Obtaining and analysing subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Working closely with commercial and operational teams
- Identifying risks, opportunities and commercial considerations
- Maintaining accurate estimating spreadsheets and cost plans
- Supporting the wider pre-construction process
- Building strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
They are open to candidates from Intermediate Estimator through to Senior Estimator level, with the ideal candidate likely to have around 5 years+ experience within the construction industry. You’ll ideally have:
- Strong estimating experience within a main contracting environment
- Experience working on live tenders
- Excellent Excel and spreadsheet skills
- Strong commercial awareness
- The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Ambition to progress within a growing business
Salary & Progression 50,000-90,000 depending on level and experience.
