Our IT Team sits within our wider Business Services Division. The team is responsible for all aspects of IT across the business, covering User Support, Infrastructure, Security, Data and Development Teams.

This role sits within a cross-functional team focused on developing innovative solutions that improve how our colleagues deliver legal services and enable better client outcomes, aligned with our strategy Empowering clients and colleagues to achieve their next level.

As Product Delivery Team Leader, you will support the successful evolution and continuous improvement of Birketts’ digital products and services. Working closely with business stakeholders, Product Managers, Business Analysts and technical leadership, you will ensure that product priorities are aligned with business needs and focused on delivering meaningful value to the firm.

Working in partnership with the Director of Business Solutions and the Product Development Team Leader, you will facilitate effective product planning, discovery and prioritisation activities, ensuring teams make informed decisions about what to build and why.

The role will support Birketts’ transition from traditional project-based delivery towards a more product-led approach. You will coach Business Analysts and Product Managers, helping to develop product management capability, encourage collaboration with stakeholders, and promote continuous learning and improvement across digital product teams.

You will work closely with the firm’s Business Change function on firmwide initiatives delivered through more traditional project-based approaches, helping to ensure alignment between the wider technology roadmap, operational change and transformational change activities. The role will support effective collaboration between Business Change, product management and technology teams, helping ensure the most appropriate delivery approach is adopted based on the nature of the initiative and the outcomes being sought, recognising that some initiatives may be best suited to structured project delivery while others will benefit from more product-led or agile delivery approaches.

Success in this role will be reflected in stronger product management capability, clearer product priorities, and improved alignment between business needs and delivery outcomes.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and help shape product initiatives and priorities
  • Assist Product Managers and Business Analysts in defining and maintaining product backlogs
  • Lead prioritisation discussions and provide constructive challenge to ensure effort is focused on the highest-value opportunities
  • Lead the development and communication of product roadmaps alongside Product Managers and stakeholders
  • Ensure product priorities are clearly defined, understood and aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure product priorities appropriately consider business value, risk, compliance and operational impacts
  • Promote product discovery practices that help teams better understand user needs, business challenges and opportunities for improvement
  • Encourage the use of stakeholder feedback, user insight and data to inform product decisions
  • Support teams in reviewing outcomes and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Help ensure products continue to evolve in line with changing business needs
  • Lead, mentor and develop Business Analysts and Product Managers; build and mature Birketts’ product management capability
  • Lead the growth of product management skills, including discovery, prioritisation, stakeholder management and outcome-focused thinking
  • Encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous learning across the team
  • Support individuals in setting objectives and developing their professional capabilities
  • Support Birketts’ transition from project-based delivery towards a more product-led approach
  • Support the adoption of consistent product management, discovery and prioritisation practices across digital product teams
  • Encourage outcome-focused decision making and effective collaboration between business and technology teams
  • Work closely with the Director of Business Solutions and Product Development Team Leader to continuously improve how products are shaped, prioritised and evolved
  • Work with Business Change, Infrastructure, Security and Architecture stakeholders to align product roadmaps with technology standards, operational considerations and wider business priorities
  • Ensure products balance user needs, business priorities, risk and compliance requirements

  • Experience supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of digital products or services
  • Experience balancing user needs, business priorities and delivery constraints when making product decisions
  • Experience leading product planning, roadmap development and prioritisation activities for digital products or services
  • A strong understanding of product management principles, including product discovery, prioritisation and continuous improvement
  • Experience working with Business Analysts, Product Managers, Product Owners or similar roles
  • Ability to coach individuals and teams in developing product management capability
  • Experience helping organisations adopt more product-led ways of working
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across business and technology teams
  • Able to balance competing priorities and support informed decision making in complex environments
  • Comfortable working collaboratively with technical and delivery teams to shape and evolve products
  • A pragmatic, outcome-focused approach, with a willingness to challenge constructively and drive continuous improvement
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • An interest in developing people, fostering collaboration and building high-performing teams
  • Degree-qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience
