Full Time, Permanent Are you looking to develop your career in traffic and transport engineering while helping shape Bristol’s future transport network?


We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Traffic Engineer to join our Transport Service. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to projects that improve road safety, support sustainable travel, and help deliver transport improvements across the city.


What you’ll do



  • Support the delivery of traffic and transport projects and schemes.

  • Produce technical information, reports, maps, drawings and other project materials.

  • Undertake surveys, inspections and technical assessments.

  • Assist with public consultations and respond to enquiries from residents, stakeholders and elected members.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner organisations to help achieve project and service objectives.

  • Contribute technical expertise to support the development of transport solutions across Bristol.


About you


You’ll have relevant qualifications or equivalent experience and an interest in transport, traffic engineering or a related technical discipline. You’ll be organised, analytical and able to communicate technical information clearly to a range of audiences.


You’ll have an understanding of the services and projects delivered by the Transport Service, together with knowledge of relevant transport policies and legislation.


You’ll be comfortable managing your own workload, working collaboratively with others and contributing to projects that deliver positive outcomes for Bristol’s communities.
