The Role
The illegal trade of illicit tobacco, vaping products, and other illegal goods negates the well‑being of communities in Bolton. We are looking for a dynamic, committed individual to join the Trading Standards service to investigate, disrupt, and prevent this trade using traditional and alternative methods. The role involves working with partners to inform agencies and the public, and initiating actions to improve safety, health, and the experience of Bolton residents.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and disrupt illegal trade of tobacco, vaping products, and illicit goods in Bolton.
- Use traditional and alternative investigative methods to identify offenders.
- Collaborate with partners and share findings to advise agencies and the public.
- Initiate work to improve safety, health, and experience of Bolton residents.
- Occasionally work evenings and weekends as required.
Qualifications & Skills
- Strong interest in investigating and disrupting criminal activity.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing tasks, investigations, and demands.
- Flexible working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a collaborative approach to partnership working.
- Experience, knowledge, qualification, or study in criminal legislation, investigation, or enforcement.
- Full driving licence.
