Transport & Compliance Supervisor
Reading / Berkshire
£40,000 per Annum
Cast UK Recruitment is currently supporting a leading organisation in the recruitment of a Transport & Compliance Supervisor to join their transport operation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport professional with a strong understanding of fleet compliance, transport operations and driver management to take ownership of compliance and operational standards across the fleet.
The Role
As Transport & Compliance Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring the fleet operates safely, legally and efficiently. You will oversee fleet maintenance planning, driver performance, routing, audits, defect reporting and transport administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage fleet compliance using a forward maintenance planner, covering MOTs, PMIs, servicing, brakes, LOLER, tachograph calibrations and vehicle taxation.
- Prepare for transport audits and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant legal and operational standards.
- Monitor vehicle defects and ensure appropriate action and driver training is completed.
- Monitor driver performance and promote safe driving behaviours.
- Support daily driver briefings, debriefs and vehicle walk-around checks.
- Manage driver-related people matters including onboarding, performance, absence and ongoing support.
- Liaise with HR regarding driver-related employee matters.
- Support recruitment and interviewing for driver positions.
- Create and optimise daily delivery routes.
- Maintain accurate delivery site information and driver feedback.
- Oversee driver returns and maintain relevant trackers.
- Conduct ISO inspections and support wider site safety compliance.
- Maintain transport documentation, planners and reporting.
- Process operational costs and maintain cost trackers.
- Support freight route bookings and other transport administration.
About You
- Previous experience within transport operations, compliance and routing.
- Strong knowledge of fleet compliance and maintenance requirements.
- Experience managing or supporting drivers.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to maintain accurate trackers and documentation.
- A detail-focused and safety-driven approach.
- Strong numeracy and literacy skills.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise workload and manage competing demands.
- Confidence dealing with audits, compliance requirements and operational issues.
